The 3M 7000049199 is a reclosable fastener strip sold under the Dual Lock SJ3560 product line. It features a clear polypropylene mushroom-stem fastener system backed with a clear acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesive. The strip delivers 250 stems per square inch and an engaged thickness of 0.23 inches. When mated face-to-face with a corresponding Dual Lock strip, the interlocking stems create a firm, audible closure. The fastener is rated for up to 1,000 open-and-close cycles and withstands temperatures up to 220 degrees F, making it suitable for both indoor and outdoor installations in demanding environments.
This fastener strip is used in HVAC panel attachment, electrical enclosure access covers, equipment mounting, and other trade applications where a tool-free reclosable bond is needed. The adhesive backing bonds directly to metals including aluminum and stainless steel, glass, and high-surface-energy plastics such as acrylic, polycarbonate, and ABS. Each roll measures 1 inch wide by 50 yards long, providing significant linear footage for production or field use. The flagged splice construction allows easy identification of strip ends during application.
Designed for use with mating 3M Dual Lock reclosable fastener strips on metal, glass, and high-surface-energy plastic substrates including aluminum, stainless steel, acrylic, polycarbonate, and ABS.
Surface preparation is critical before applying the adhesive-backed strip — clean and degrease the substrate thoroughly for full adhesive contact. Apply firm pressure along the full length of the strip after placement to activate the acrylic adhesive bond. When used in HVAC or electrical enclosure applications, ensure the substrate surface energy is compatible with acrylic adhesives before committing to a permanent installation. No special tools are required for application or removal, but removal from painted or coated surfaces may cause surface damage.
