The 3M 7000049126 is a dead-soft aluminum foil vibration damping tape designed to absorb and dissipate mechanical vibration while reducing structure-borne noise. The silver foil constraining layer is coated with a viscoelastic acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesive and supplied on a blue polyethylene easy-release liner. The roll measures 6 inches wide by 36 yards long, making it suited for wide-surface damping applications. Installers in HVAC, appliance service, aerospace, automotive, and general industrial maintenance use this tape to quiet panels, housings, ductwork, and other vibrating metal or composite surfaces.
This tape is well suited for residential and commercial HVAC duct systems, appliance cabinets, mechanical enclosures, and industrial equipment panels where vibration transmission and radiated noise are concerns. Its linered construction supports die-cutting for custom shapes, which is useful in manufacturing and fabrication environments. The tape performs across a wide temperature range, tolerating cold-temperature exposure down to -76 degrees F, which makes it a viable choice for refrigeration enclosures, outdoor mechanical equipment, and cold-storage applications.
Designed for vibration damping and noise reduction on metal panels, ductwork, appliance housings, and mechanical enclosures across aerospace, automotive, construction, appliance, and MRO applications.
Clean and dry the target surface thoroughly before application to ensure full adhesive contact. Power down or de-energize any equipment before applying tape to moving or electrically active assemblies. Peel the blue polyethylene liner at a consistent angle and press the tape firmly into place, working from one edge to eliminate air pockets. For die-cut applications, cut on a clean flat surface using standard rotary or steel-rule tooling.
