The 3M 7000049121 is a vibration damping foil tape engineered to absorb and dissipate mechanical vibration while reducing structure-borne noise. It consists of a dead soft aluminum foil constraining layer coated with a pressure-sensitive viscoelastic acrylic polymer adhesive, supplied on a blue polyethylene easy-release liner. The tape measures 2 inches wide and runs 36 yards per roll, making it a practical choice for larger surface applications. It is installed by HVAC technicians, appliance service professionals, MRO tradespeople, and industrial maintenance crews working to control vibration and noise in metal panels, ductwork, housings, and mechanical enclosures.
This tape is suited for applications in HVAC, appliance manufacturing, construction, automotive, and general industrial maintenance. The easy-release liner supports die-cutting for custom shapes, making it adaptable to complex surfaces and tight geometries. Cold-temperature resistance allows the tape to remain functional at temperatures as low as -76 degrees F (-60 degrees C), which extends its usefulness to refrigeration systems, cold-storage construction, and outdoor mechanical installations where standard adhesives may fail.
Designed for vibration damping and noise reduction applications across HVAC, appliance, construction, automotive, and general MRO industries where aluminum foil constraining-layer tapes are specified.
This tape is applied by hand or with a roller applicator; no heat or solvents are required. Clean and dry the substrate surface thoroughly before application to ensure full adhesive contact. When cutting custom shapes, use the liner as a backing support. Follow applicable facility safety and equipment lockout procedures before applying tape to energized or moving machinery.
