The 3M 7000049097 is a double coated tape built on a 1 mil clear PET carrier with two distinct adhesive systems: 3M Adhesive 350 acrylic adhesive on the face side and a 3 mil silicone adhesive on the liner side. This dual-adhesive construction allows the tape to bond silicone rubber elastomers, silicone foam, and silicone gasketing materials to a wide range of dissimilar substrates. Total tape thickness is 5.5 mil. The roll measures 1 inch wide by 36 yards long. It is used by fabricators, industrial technicians, and trade professionals working with silicone-based components in applications that demand high temperature resistance and chemical resistance.
This tape is designed for demanding bonding applications where conventional acrylic or rubber-based tapes fail. Typical uses include attaching silicone gaskets, silicone foam seals, and silicone rubber elastomers to metal, plastic, or composite substrates in HVAC assemblies, electronic enclosures, and industrial equipment. The face-side Adhesive 350 delivers long-term holding strength under thermal cycling and chemical exposure, while the silicone adhesive on the liner side addresses the low-surface-energy challenge common with silicone materials.
Designed for bonding silicone rubber elastomers, silicone foam, and silicone gasketing materials to a range of substrates in specialized industrial and trade applications where silicone-to-substrate adhesion is required.
Surface preparation is critical before application — clean and degrease all mating surfaces thoroughly to maximize adhesive contact. Apply firm, even pressure across the tape length to ensure full adhesive transfer and bond formation. Avoid stretching the tape during application, as this can affect bond strength and dimensional accuracy. Follow all applicable safety data sheet guidance when working with adhesive products in enclosed or poorly ventilated spaces.
