The 3M 7000048876 is a general purpose glass cloth tape (Tape 3615) designed for applications that demand high-temperature resistance, strong adhesion, and durable backing. The tape features a silicone adhesive coating over a woven glass cloth backing rated at approximately 7.0 mil total thickness. The silicone adhesive delivers reliable bond strength at elevated temperatures where standard acrylic or rubber-based adhesives typically fail. The glass cloth backing resists abrasion and provides excellent tensile strength. This roll measures 1 inch wide by 36 yards long and is finished in white. Licensed HVAC technicians, electricians, and industrial maintenance professionals commonly use this product in high-heat environments.
Tape 3615 is suited for a wide range of general purpose applications including thermal insulation bundling, wire harnessing, motor coil wrapping, and masking during powder coat or high-temperature paint operations. It performs in environments where sustained elevated temperatures would degrade conventional tapes. The silicone adhesive system maintains adhesion and resists bleedthrough at process temperatures. It is equally appropriate in residential and commercial settings wherever a clean, abrasion-resistant, high-temperature tape is required.
Designed as a general purpose high-temperature glass cloth tape suitable for wire harnessing, thermal insulation, motor coil wrap, and masking applications across residential and commercial trade environments.
Surface preparation is critical — clean the substrate of oil, dust, and moisture before applying the tape to ensure full adhesive contact. When used near electrical components, confirm that the tape application is appropriate under applicable NEC guidelines and de-energize circuits before work begins. Avoid stretching the tape during application, as distortion can reduce tensile strength and adhesive coverage. Allow the tape to dwell under light pressure after application before exposing to process temperatures.
