The 3M 7000048662 is a double-linered adhesive transfer tape built around 3M Industrial Acrylic Adhesive 220. At 5.0 mil nominal thickness, the adhesive layer delivers good shear strength and improved wet-out on textured surfaces, making it suitable for general bonding applications where consistent contact with high surface energy (HSE) materials is required. Two 58 lb. polycoated kraft (PCK) liners protect the adhesive on both faces and peel away cleanly during application. This tape is handled and installed by assemblers, fabricators, and industrial maintenance technicians working in light manufacturing, signage, and general bonding workflows.
This tape is used in general industrial and commercial bonding applications involving HSE substrates such as metals, glass, and rigid plastics. Its thicker adhesive construction improves surface contact on slightly textured or uneven substrates. The transparent acrylic adhesive remains visually unobtrusive after lamination, making it suitable for display, signage, and panel-assembly work. It is supplied in case quantities of 40 units and is appropriate for both production-line and maintenance applications.
Designed for bonding to high surface energy (HSE) substrates in general industrial, commercial, and light-assembly applications. Best suited for use with metals, glass, and rigid plastics where a transparent, acrylic-based transfer adhesive is appropriate.
Surface preparation is critical before applying adhesive transfer tape; clean and dry the substrate to remove oils, dust, and contaminants prior to bonding. Peel the first PCK liner, position the adhesive against the substrate, apply firm even pressure across the bond area, then remove the second liner before pressing the mating surface into place. Avoid stretching the adhesive during liner removal. Once bonded, the adhesive transfer is not typically repositionable, so alignment should be confirmed before final press.
