The 3M 7000048621 is a double coated film tape designed for bonding, mounting, and splicing applications where a clean, strong hold is required on both surfaces. Tape 9589 features a 3 mil white High Density Polyethylene (HDPE) carrier coated on both sides with 3M Synthetic Rubber Adhesive 760, carried on a 3.7 mil white 62 Densified Kraft Paper liner. Total tape thickness is 12.7 mil. The adhesive delivers high initial tack and excellent quick stick performance, making it well suited for fast-paced production or service environments. Short-term heat resistance reaches 200 degrees F. Tape components comply with Title 21 of the Code of Federal Regulations as indirect food additives.
This tape is intended for indoor, room-temperature applications across industrial, manufacturing, and trade service settings. Typical uses include bonding lightweight panels, mounting nameplates and gaskets, splicing film or foil, and securing insulation facing. The 2-inch width and 36-yard roll length suit both hand application and light tooling setups. Its food-contact compliance under 21 CFR makes it appropriate for use in facilities where indirect food contact is a regulatory concern.
Designed for indoor, room-temperature bonding and mounting applications; suited for use on common substrates including plastics, metals, and coated papers where a synthetic rubber adhesive system is appropriate.
Surface preparation is critical — clean, dry, and dust-free substrates yield the best bond strength. Remove the liner and apply firm, even pressure across the full tape surface before bonding the second substrate. This tape is not rated for prolonged high-heat or outdoor UV exposure. No special tools are required, though a tape applicator or roller improves consistency on longer runs.
