The 3M 7000048573 is a reclosable fastener tape sold as the SJ3542 Dual Lock type 170, featuring a rubber-based adhesive backing on a black polypropylene mushroom-stem strip. It measures 0.5 inches wide and 50 yards long per roll, with a stem density of 400 stems per square inch and an engaged thickness of 0.23 inches. The fastener closes and reopens reliably for up to 1,000 closure cycles, making it a practical mechanical attachment solution for panels, enclosures, displays, and trim components where screws or permanent adhesives are not practical. Rated for indoor use only, it withstands temperatures up to 120 degrees F.
This fastener tape is suited for indoor applications across trade, commercial, and light industrial environments. Typical uses include securing access panels, equipment covers, cable routing clips, signage, and mounting components to surfaces that cannot be drilled or welded. It bonds to a range of substrates including acrylic, polycarbonate, ABS, powder-coated paints, polypropylene, and polyethylene. Because the two mating strips lock together under light pressure and release cleanly, it is commonly used where technicians need repeated access to a covered component without tools.
Designed for use with acrylic, polycarbonate, ABS, powder-coated paint surfaces, polypropylene, and polyethylene substrates in indoor environments. Not rated for outdoor exposure or high-temperature applications above 120 degrees F.
Clean and dry the mounting surface thoroughly before applying the adhesive-backed strip to ensure full bond strength. Allow adequate dwell time after pressing the tape to the substrate before engaging the mating strip under load. This product is for indoor use only and should not be installed in areas subject to direct moisture, UV exposure, or temperatures exceeding the rated maximum. Cut strips to length with scissors or a utility knife before removing the adhesive liner.
