The 3M 7000048521 is a firm, double-sided, pressure-sensitive, closed-cell acrylic foam tape designed for permanent bonding applications. At 120 mil thick, this tape delivers a high-strength bond to high surface energy substrates including metals, glass, and many plastics. The PET film liner provides clean handling and consistent unwind during application. Each roll measures 3/4 inches wide by 36 yards long and is finished in white. HVAC, electrical, and general construction trades use this tape for panel assembly, sign mounting, and vibration-dampening attachments where mechanical fasteners are impractical.
This tape is suited for both indoor and controlled outdoor environments where a strong, conformable adhesive bond is required. Its closed-cell acrylic foam core provides cushioning, vibration damping, and impact resistance, making it a reliable choice for attaching trim panels, nameplates, gaskets, and lightweight structural components. Sold in rolls with a minimum order quantity of 12, it is a standard stock item for contractors and assembly operations that require consistent, high-volume bonding solutions.
Designed for bonding high surface energy substrates in general construction, HVAC panel assembly, electrical enclosure trim, and industrial fabrication applications.
Surface preparation is critical for maximum bond strength — clean bonding surfaces with isopropyl alcohol and allow to dry fully before application. Apply firm, even pressure across the entire tape surface to activate the pressure-sensitive adhesive. Full bond strength develops over 72 hours at room temperature. Do not apply to low surface energy plastics such as polyethylene or polypropylene without a primer or surface treatment.
