The 3M 7000048520 is a white, double-sided, pressure-sensitive acrylic foam tape designed for structural bonding and surface protection applications. At 80 mil thick, this closed-cell acrylic foam construction bonds strongly to high surface energy substrates including metals, glass, and many plastics. The tape ships on a roll measuring 0.75 inches wide by 36 yards long with a PET film liner for clean handling. It provides cushioning, vibration damping, and impact resistance in addition to its primary bonding function. Installation professionals in construction, manufacturing, and industrial maintenance use this tape where mechanical fasteners are impractical or where a clean finished appearance is required.
This tape is well suited for interior and exterior bonding applications where a firm, conformable adhesive layer is needed. Common uses include panel mounting, sign assembly, glazing applications, and attachment of trim or decorative components to high surface energy surfaces. The closed-cell foam core resists moisture and solvents, making it appropriate for demanding environments where long-term adhesion integrity is critical.
Designed for bonding high surface energy substrates such as metals, glass, and compatible plastics in structural and industrial bonding applications.
Surface preparation is critical for maximum bond strength — clean and dry the substrate thoroughly before application. Apply firm, even pressure across the tape length to ensure full contact adhesion. Allow adequate dwell time before subjecting the bond to load. Remove the PET film liner just before application to avoid contamination of the adhesive surface.
