The 3M 7000048519 is a white, double-sided, pressure-sensitive acrylic foam tape sold under the VHB Tape 4955 product line. At 80 mil thick, it uses a firm, closed-cell acrylic foam core with a PET film liner. It is engineered to bond high surface energy substrates, providing a durable, semi-permanent attachment without mechanical fasteners. Each roll measures 0.5 inches wide by 36 yards long. The tape delivers cushioning, vibration damping, and impact resistance in addition to its bonding function, making it a practical choice for assembly and mounting applications in construction, HVAC panel fabrication, electrical enclosures, and other trade environments.
This tape is suited for applications where a clean, load-bearing bond is needed on high surface energy materials such as metals, glass, and many plastics. It performs in both interior and exterior settings where vibration, thermal cycling, or impact exposure is a concern. Typical use cases include attaching nameplates, mounting control panels, sealing and bonding trim components, and securing insulation or gasket material in fabrication workflows. It is handled and applied by HVAC fabricators, electricians, plumbers, and general contractors during assembly or retrofit work.
Designed for bonding high surface energy substrates in construction, fabrication, and mechanical assembly applications where a firm, double-sided foam tape is required.
Surface preparation is critical for pressure-sensitive tape bonds — clean, dry, and degrease all mating surfaces before application. Apply firm, even pressure across the full tape length to achieve full contact and activate the adhesive. Minimum application temperature and surface texture will affect bond strength; consult the manufacturer data sheet for environmental limits. This product does not require tools beyond a tape dispenser or utility knife for trimming.
