The 3M 7000048485 is a double coated open-cell urethane foam tape designed for bonding two surfaces together with a single application step. Sold as the 4032 series in an off-white finish, this tape measures 3/4 inches wide by 72 yards long and carries a thickness of 1/32 inch. The open-cell foam core compresses to fill minor surface irregularities, creating a consistent bond line. A paper liner protects both adhesive faces during handling and unwinds cleanly on the job. At 1.61 pounds per roll, it is lightweight enough for overhead or vertical applications. Installation requires no special tools beyond a tape dispenser or utility knife.
This tape is suited for light-duty bonding tasks in HVAC panel assembly, electrical enclosure gasket attachment, and general trade fabrication work. The double coated construction allows two substrates to be joined without a separate adhesive step, which speeds up assembly on nameplates, trim pieces, insulation strips, and similar components. It performs best on clean, dry surfaces and is available in rolls for continuous-length cutting to fit specific job requirements.
Designed as an OEM-style bonding solution for light assembly applications involving foam, plastic, metal, and similar substrates common in HVAC, electrical, and general trade fabrication environments.
Surface preparation is critical before application — clean and dry both mating surfaces to remove dust, oil, and loose debris. Apply firm, even pressure across the tape after positioning to ensure full adhesive contact. A utility knife or tape dispenser is recommended for clean cuts. Remove the paper liner from the second face only after the tape is positioned on the first substrate to avoid contaminating the adhesive.
