The 3M 7000048442 is an acrylic adhesive transfer tape designed for bonding dissimilar substrates in demanding fabrication and assembly applications. At 2 mil thickness, the tape delivers a low-profile bond suited for splicing film, foils, fabrics, and coated papers. The high-tack 300-series acrylic adhesive provides strong initial adhesion, reducing the time required to achieve a secure bond. A 60 densified kraft liner adds dimensional stability, making this roll compatible with die-cutting, laminating, and automated processing lines. The tape measures 0.5 inches wide by 60 yards long and weighs approximately 0.26 pounds per roll.
This transfer tape is engineered for use on low surface energy plastics including polyethylene and polypropylene, as well as foam and gasket materials where conventional adhesives typically underperform. It is a thinner alternative to the 3M Adhesive Transfer Tape 950, making it the preferred choice when substrate thickness is a constraint. Typical applications include foam attachment, gasket bonding, foil splicing, and fabric lamination in light manufacturing, HVAC insulation fabrication, and general trade assembly environments.
Designed for bonding foams, gaskets, and low surface energy plastics including polyethylene and polypropylene. Suitable for splicing film, foils, fabrics, and coated papers in die-cutting and laminating processes.
Surface preparation is critical before application — clean and dry all substrates to remove oils, dust, and contaminants. Apply firm, even pressure across the bond area to ensure full adhesive contact. When used in die-cutting or automated laminating lines, confirm liner tension and feed rate are appropriate for the 60 densified kraft liner. Store unused rolls in a cool, dry environment away from direct sunlight to maintain adhesive performance.
