The 3M 7000046859 is a Standard Abrasives Quick Change Surface Conditioning RC Disc designed for surface prep work ahead of final finishes and protective coatings. The open-web RC material is built to break down under medium pressure, continuously exposing fresh fibers and aluminum oxide mineral for consistent cut rate throughout the disc's life. At 2 inches in diameter and rated to 20,000 RPM, it mounts and dismounts quickly on compatible quick-change tools. Weighing 0.0172 pounds, it is a lightweight consumable suited to repetitive use in production and fabrication environments. Licensed tradespeople and fabricators working in aerospace, metal fab, and body shops rely on this disc for blending, coating removal, and light deburring in a single pass.
This disc is well matched to flat surface applications on composites and soft metals such as aluminum, as well as general ferrous flatwork. Its load-resistant construction resists clogging from paint buildup and corrosion residue, making it practical for prep work where surfaces carry existing coatings or oxidation. The quick-change attachment system reduces downtime when swapping discs during high-volume operations. It is available in multiple grades: dark brown extra coarse, brown coarse, maroon medium, and blue very fine, allowing the same tool platform to cover a range of stock removal and finishing tasks.
Designed for use with quick-change rotary tool systems accepting 2-inch surface conditioning discs. Suitable for flatwork, composites, and soft metals including aluminum. Verify spindle RPM rating meets or exceeds 20,000 RPM before use.
Installation and disc changes should be performed with the tool powered down and disconnected from its power source. Confirm the tool mandrel is rated for quick-change discs and that the spindle speed does not exceed the 20,000 RPM disc rating. Wear appropriate PPE including eye protection and gloves when mounting abrasive discs or operating grinding and surface conditioning tools. Follow applicable shop safety protocols and tool manufacturer guidelines for abrasive disc mounting.
