The 3M 7000046010 is a Scotch-Brite Roloc coating removal disc designed for stripping paint, rust, and other surface coatings from metal. At 2 inches in diameter and rated for up to 18000 RPM, this disc uses an extra coarse silicon carbide abrasive bonded to a conformable, non-woven web. The non-woven construction lets the disc conform to irregular surfaces and welds while removing coatings aggressively without gouging or undercutting the base material. It attaches via a hook and loop fastening system, making disc swaps fast during multi-step finishing work. Fabricators, welders, and metal prep technicians are the primary users.
This disc is suited for coating removal and surface preparation on metal substrates, including weld seams, weld scale, and discolored heat-affected zones. The open web construction resists loading and runs cool, which extends disc life during sustained operation. It is appropriate for use on hard metal surfaces where wire brushes or aggressive grinding discs risk damaging the workpiece. Typical applications include pre-weld prep, post-weld cleanup, paint stripping before refinishing, and rust removal in fabrication and maintenance settings.
Designed for use with Roloc-compatible rotary tools and die grinders that accept 2-inch hook and loop abrasive discs. Suitable for use on hard metal surfaces including steel and other ferrous substrates.
This disc is installed and operated by fabricators, welders, and metalworking technicians using compatible Roloc-style die grinders or rotary tools. Verify the tool is rated at or above the disc speed before mounting, and confirm the hook and loop interface is fully engaged before powering on. Always wear appropriate PPE including eye protection and gloves when operating abrasive discs. Disconnect the tool from power before changing discs.
