The 3M 7000045979 is a Scotch-Brite Roloc EXL Unitized Wheel designed for edge deburring and surface finishing on metal and machined parts. Built with compressed, open-web construction and uniform aluminum oxide grain distribution, it delivers consistent cutting action across multiple passes. At 2 inches in diameter and a medium grit grade, this unitized wheel suits applications where dimensional tolerances must be maintained. It is installed via the Roloc twist-on attachment system, allowing fast disc changes without tools during multi-step finishing sequences. Metalworkers, machinists, and fabricators are the primary users of this product.
This wheel is used in metalworking and light fabrication environments where edge deburring, blending, and surface conditioning are part of the workflow. The unitized construction holds its shape under pressure, making it well suited for working on machined components where consistent geometry matters. Medium grit provides an effective balance between material removal and surface refinement. It is compatible with right-angle grinders and die grinders fitted with a Roloc mandrel. Both production shop and job-site use cases are appropriate, particularly wherever close-tolerance parts require controlled finishing without aggressive stock removal.
Designed for use with right-angle grinders and die grinders equipped with a 3M Roloc mandrel attachment. Suitable as a replacement or replenishment unitized wheel for Roloc-compatible tool systems used in metal deburring and finishing applications.
Installation is performed by a machinist or metalworking technician. Secure the Roloc mandrel to the grinder spindle per the tool manufacturer instructions before attaching the wheel. Disengage and de-energize the grinder fully before mounting or removing any abrasive disc. Inspect the wheel for damage prior to each use and do not exceed the maximum RPM rating of the wheel or tool, whichever is lower.
