The 3M 7000045949 is a Scotch-Brite EXL Unitized Abrasive Wheel designed for smoothing, deburring, and finishing metal alloys, plastics, and composites. Built with a soft, conformable consistency, the wheel maintains consistent abrasive contact across irregular and complex part geometries. The aluminum oxide abrasive construction resists smearing, which reduces surface contamination and preparation time. Minimized heat buildup during operation makes this wheel suitable for use on heat-sensitive materials. The unitized, layered construction allows operation in both clockwise and counterclockwise directions, adding flexibility to robotic and manual finishing setups alike.
This wheel is used in metal fabrication, finishing, and surface preparation applications across industrial and light manufacturing environments. It is well-suited for deburring cut edges, blending weld seams, and finishing surfaces on metal alloys as well as many plastics and composites. The 3 inch diameter and 1/4 inch arbor sizing make it compatible with standard bench grinders, die grinders, and finishing machines commonly used in production and job-shop settings. EXL unitized wheels are available in a range of densities from soft and conformable to hard and aggressive, allowing selection based on cut aggressiveness and surface finish requirements.
Designed for use on metal alloys, many plastics, and composites. Fits standard 1/4 inch arbor bench grinders, die grinders, and finishing machines. Consult machine specifications to confirm RPM rating compatibility before mounting.
This abrasive wheel should be mounted and changed by personnel familiar with rotary abrasive tool safety practices. Power down and de-energize the grinder or finishing machine before mounting or removing the wheel. Verify that the machine spindle speed does not exceed the maximum RPM rating marked on the wheel or packaging. Inspect the wheel for visible damage before each use and do not operate a damaged or out-of-round wheel.
