The 3M 7000045623 is a ceramic-abrasive quick-change disc designed for aggressive material removal on metal, weld seams, and surface preparation applications. Part of the 3M 777F Series, it uses a Type R (Roloc TR) attachment system for fast, tool-free disc changes on compatible right-angle grinders and die grinders. The 36-grit ceramic abrasive mineral is rated Very Coarse and is bonded to a YF-weight polyester cloth backing, which resists heat and flex during extended grinding passes. Maximum operating speed is 30,000 RPM. The orange coated surface and brown button color are consistent identifiers for this series. This disc is installed by metal fabricators, maintenance technicians, and welders performing stock removal or weld blending tasks.
The 3M 7000045623 is suited for flat and contoured surface work where a fast-cutting, durable abrasive is required. Typical applications include weld removal, rust and scale elimination, edge chamfering, and general surface conditioning on ferrous and non-ferrous metals. The coated ceramic construction maintains a sharp cutting edge longer than aluminum oxide alternatives, making it effective for high-volume production grinding as well as field repair work. The Type R quick-change mount seats securely in compatible disc pads without additional hardware.
Designed for use with Type R (Roloc TR) quick-change disc pads on right-angle grinders and die grinders that accept 1-1/2 inch quick-change discs rated to at least 30,000 RPM.
Installation and disc changes should be performed with the grinder powered off and disconnected from its power source or air supply. Verify that the tool spindle speed does not exceed the 30,000 RPM maximum rating before mounting the disc. Inspect the disc for cracks or damage before each use and discard any disc showing signs of deterioration. Always use appropriate eye protection, face shield, and gloves when operating abrasive grinding equipment, per ANSI B11 and applicable shop safety standards.
