The 3M 7000045177 is a coated abrasive disc engineered for medium to high pressure grinding on metal workpieces where a compact disc size is required. Built on the Cubitron II 984F platform, it uses 3M Precision-Shaped Grain (PSG) technology — triangular ceramic abrasive grain that fractures to maintain sharp cutting points throughout the disc life. The Roloc quick-change attachment system allows fast disc swaps without tools. At 1.5 inches in diameter and 80 grit, this disc is sized for precision edge work and tight-access grinding where a standard larger disc cannot reach.
This disc is designed for demanding metalworking applications including stainless steel, cobalt chrome, and nickel alloy grinding. The 2-ply backing provides structural rigidity for edge grinding at elevated pressure. A grinding aid is incorporated directly into the disc construction to reduce heat buildup — a critical factor when working on heat-sensitive alloys such as stainless steel and nickel-based materials. Typical users include fabricators, aerospace technicians, and metalworking professionals performing weld blending, edge deburring, and surface preparation on precision components.
Designed for use with Roloc-compatible right-angle grinders and die grinders that accept 1.5-inch quick-change discs. Suited for stainless steel, cobalt chrome, and nickel alloy workpieces in medium to high pressure grinding applications.
Installation of Roloc discs requires a compatible Roloc mandrel or holder mounted to a right-angle grinder or die grinder — confirm mandrel size matches the disc before use. Ensure the grinder is powered off and disconnected from the power source before attaching or removing discs. Wear appropriate PPE including face shield and gloves when grinding metal. Follow the tool manufacturer maximum RPM rating and do not exceed it with this disc.
