The 3M 7000045174 is a coated abrasive disc built around 3M Cubitron II Precision-Shaped Grain technology, engineered for medium to high pressure grinding in metalworking applications. At 3 inches in diameter with a 60 grit rating, this disc delivers fast, controlled material removal on stainless steel, cobalt chrome, and nickel alloys where heat management is critical. A built-in grinding aid reduces surface temperatures during aggressive grinding passes, protecting heat-sensitive base materials. The Roloc quick-change attachment system allows rapid disc swaps without tools. Licensed tradespeople and fabrication welders working on precision alloy components are the primary installers and users of this disc.
This disc is suited for use in metal fabrication shops, aerospace component finishing, and weld blending on stainless steel and nickel-based superalloys. Its compact 3-inch diameter makes it the right choice when access is restricted or when a smaller footprint is needed for controlled edge work. The 2-ply backing construction adds durability for lateral edge grinding passes that would quickly wear through single-ply alternatives. It performs well in both bench-mounted and handheld right-angle grinder setups where Roloc-compatible mandrels are in use.
Designed for use with Roloc-compatible right-angle grinder mandrels. Suitable for grinding stainless steel, cobalt chrome, and nickel alloy workpieces in medium to high pressure applications.
Installation requires a Roloc-compatible mandrel mounted in a right-angle grinder rated for the disc diameter and operating speed. Always confirm the grinder RPM rating meets or exceeds the disc maximum rated speed before mounting. Wear appropriate PPE including a face shield, grinding gloves, and hearing protection during operation. Inspect the disc for damage before each use and discard any disc showing tears, delamination, or unusual wear.
