The 3M 7000043008 is a conformable, tacky mastic tape designed for insulating, padding, and sealing high voltage cables and cable accessories. At 125 mil thick and 3.75 inches wide on a 10-foot roll, this tape conforms readily to irregular surfaces and provides excellent moisture resistance. It carries a temperature rating of 176 degrees F (80 degrees C) and features self-healing characteristics that restore the seal after the tape has been punctured or cut. An easy-release liner speeds application in the field. Electrical contractors and cable splicing crews working on high voltage systems will find this tape a reliable component in a complete termination or splice assembly.
This tape is suited for use on high voltage cable terminations, splices, and accessory sealing applications in both commercial and industrial electrical installations. Its conformability makes it practical for wrapping over cable connectors, stress cones, and other components with non-flat profiles. It is typically applied as part of a layered insulation and sealing system wherever moisture ingress must be controlled around high voltage conductors.
Designed as an OEM-style sealing and insulating tape for high voltage cable terminations, splices, and cable accessory applications in commercial and industrial electrical systems.
Installation should be performed by a qualified electrician or cable splicing technician following applicable NEC requirements and the cable system manufacturer's specifications. De-energize and properly lock out the circuit before beginning any cable termination or splice work. Apply the tape with firm, uniform tension to ensure full conformance to the substrate and eliminate air pockets. Do not stretch or distort the tape beyond its designed elongation, as this may compromise long-term sealing performance.
