The 3M 7000031967 is a lightweight, cementitious fire barrier mortar engineered for through-penetration firestop applications. Supplied as a dry powder in a 44-pound bag, it mixes with potable water at adjustable ratios to produce either a self-leveling pour or a trowelable mortar, giving installers flexibility across a wide range of horizontal and vertical opening conditions. When properly installed in tested and listed systems, the mortar provides up to 3 hours of fire resistance, helping contain the spread of fire, smoke, and noxious gases through floor and wall penetrations. The off-white color with dark flecks makes it easy to identify in finished assemblies.
This mortar is used in commercial and industrial construction where rated firestop assemblies are required around through-penetrations in fire-rated floors, walls, and partitions. Typical applications include sealing openings where conduit, cable bundles, pipes, or ductwork pass through concrete or masonry barrier assemblies. Licensed firestop or general contractors typically install this product as part of a UL-listed or tested firestop system. It is suited for both new construction and retrofit projects where an economical cementitious fill material is specified.
Designed for use in tested and listed through-penetration firestop systems where a cementitious mortar fill material is specified. Confirm the specific system listing for each penetration type and fire-resistance rating required on the project.
Installation must be performed by qualified firestop installers following the requirements of the applicable tested and listed system. All penetrating items must be properly positioned and supported before mortar is poured or troweled in place. Consult local building codes and ASTM E814 or UL 1479 test standards for through-penetration firestop system requirements. Do not apply over wet, frozen, or contaminated surfaces.
