The 3M 7000031510 is a medium-wall heat-shrinkable cable sleeve made from cross-linked polyolefin, a split-resistant material that delivers reliable mechanical and environmental protection on power distribution and electrical wiring installations. This SKU is supplied as a 25-foot reel in an uncoated format, making it well suited for field cutting to custom lengths. The sleeve is rated for conductor sizes from 4/0 through 400 kcmil and offers strong resistance to abrasion, corrosion, and chemical exposure. Its cross-linked construction provides greater flexibility than heavy-wall alternatives, and the fast-shrink characteristic reduces labor time during installation.
This cable sleeve is used in commercial and industrial electrical applications where conductors, bus bars, or cable splices require durable insulation and environmental protection. Typical use cases include bus bar insulation and phase rejacketing on medium-voltage or low-voltage distribution systems. The 25-foot reel format is appropriate for contractors and electricians who cut sleeves to length on the job. The uncoated reel version does not include the factory-applied adhesive sealant found on the 48-inch pre-cut lengths, so it is best suited for applications where a sealant is not required or will be applied separately.
Designed for use on copper or aluminum conductors in the 4/0 through 400 kcmil range. Suitable for bus bar insulation and phase rejacketing applications in commercial and industrial electrical systems.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician following applicable NEC guidelines. De-energize and lock out the circuit before applying the sleeve. Use a calibrated heat gun or torch with a moving flame to apply even heat around the sleeve circumference, allowing it to shrink uniformly without scorching. Do not overheat or hold heat in one spot, as this can damage the polyolefin material.
