The 3M 7000031482 is a self-stripping, moisture-resistant electrical IDC (insulation displacement connector) pigtail connector designed for fast, reliable wire terminations without the need to pre-strip conductors. Rated for 22 to 14 AWG wire, it accepts a maximum insulation outer diameter of 0.155 inches and carries an operating temperature rating of 221 degrees F (105 degrees C). The built-in moisture-resistant seal makes it suitable for environments where water ingress is a concern. Electricians and low-voltage technicians install this connector in splice and pigtail applications where speed and environmental protection are both priorities.
This connector is used in residential and commercial electrical work wherever spliced pigtail connections must withstand moisture exposure. Typical applications include junction box pigtails, outdoor or damp-location wiring runs, and service connections within equipment enclosures. The self-stripping design eliminates a prep step, reducing installation time on repetitive terminations. The suggested application tool for this connector is the E-9BM Crimping Tool, which seats the connector properly and ensures a secure, consistent crimp.
Designed for use with 22 to 14 AWG wire and intended for use with the E-9BM Crimping Tool for proper seating and termination.
Installation is performed by a licensed electrician or qualified low-voltage technician in accordance with applicable NEC requirements. De-energize all circuits before making or modifying any wire connections. Insert conductors into the connector and apply the E-9BM Crimping Tool to fully seat the IDC contacts — do not attempt to seat connectors by hand or with substitute tooling. Verify insulation outer diameter does not exceed 0.155 inches before installation to ensure a proper moisture-resistant seal.
