The 3M 7000031373 is a copper standard barrel connector rated for use on copper conductors in medium-voltage applications up to 35 kV. Built from one-piece, seamless, high-conductivity copper, it delivers a solid, low-resistance splice with no weak points introduced by seams or joints. The connector measures 2 inches in length with a 0.439-inch inner diameter, sized to accept 2/0 AWG conductors. Its black color coding supports quick visual identification during installation. Licensed electricians and cable splicers working on medium-voltage distribution, industrial feeders, or underground cable systems are the typical installers of this connector.
This barrel connector is suited for medium-voltage copper conductor splicing in residential, commercial, and industrial power distribution systems. The 35 kV rating makes it appropriate for utility and industrial feeder runs where higher dielectric strength is required. It is designed for use on copper conductors only and is not suitable for aluminum wire. Applications include underground residential distribution, cable termination work, and in-line conductor splicing in conduit or direct-burial installations.
Designed for use with 2/0 AWG copper conductors in medium-voltage cable splicing applications rated up to 35 kV. Not suitable for aluminum conductors.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician or qualified cable splicer in accordance with the NEC and applicable local electrical codes. De-energize and verify absence of voltage on all conductors before beginning any splice work. Use the manufacturer-specified compression tool and die set to achieve the correct crimp profile — an improper crimp can compromise both mechanical strength and electrical performance. Completed splices in medium-voltage applications typically require appropriate insulation and shielding restoration over the connector.
