The 3M 7000029042 is a gray, double-sided, closed-cell acrylic foam tape designed for permanent structural bonding and surface mounting applications. At 45 mil thick, it conforms to irregular surfaces while providing cushioning, vibration damping, and impact resistance. The pressure-sensitive adhesive bonds to high and medium surface energy substrates without mechanical fasteners. A paper liner protects the adhesive until application. This tape carries a UL 746C listing and is formulated to resist plasticizer migration, making it suitable for demanding bonding environments encountered by industrial, electrical, and general trade professionals.
This tape is used in applications where mechanical fasteners are impractical or undesirable, such as panel mounting, sign assembly, trim bonding, and equipment attachment. The 12-inch width and 36-yard roll length make it well suited for continuous runs or large-format cuts on fabrication and assembly jobs. Its conformable foam core accommodates minor surface irregularities and helps seal gaps against moisture intrusion in light-duty applications.
Designed for bonding high and medium surface energy substrates including metals, glass, and many plastics in industrial and commercial assembly applications.
Surface preparation is critical — clean and dry the bonding surface thoroughly before application to achieve full adhesive contact. Apply firm, even pressure across the tape after placement to initiate proper adhesive transfer. For structural or load-bearing applications, allow adequate dwell time before applying stress to the bond. Follow applicable safety and building codes when using adhesive tape in place of mechanical fasteners in regulated installations.
