The 3M 7000028919 is a differential double coated removable repositionable tape designed for temporary bonding and clean removal applications. It combines two acrylic adhesives on a polyester film carrier backed by a 78 lb polycoated kraft paper liner: 3M Acrylic Adhesive 400 on one side and 3M Repositionable Acrylic Adhesive 1000 on the other. The tape measures 1.5 inches wide by 144 yards long and has a 2 mil total thickness. Adhesive 400 delivers strong peel strength and bonds to metals, glass, wood, paper, paints, and many plastics. Adhesive 1000 allows clean, residue-free removal from most surfaces. The clear polyester carrier provides UV resistance and optical clarity suited for label and window applications.
This tape is used in light industrial, print, packaging, and assembly environments where temporary or repositionable bonding is required. Common applications include window labels, paper mounting, display construction, and assembly of mixed-material components. The differential adhesive system makes it particularly useful when one bonding surface requires permanent adhesion and the other requires repositionability or clean release. Installers in graphics, signage, and light fabrication trades are the primary users.
Designed for bonding similar and dissimilar materials including metals, glass, wood, papers, paints, and many plastics where a differential permanent-to-repositionable adhesive system is required.
Clean and dry all bonding surfaces before application to ensure consistent adhesion. Apply firm, even pressure across the tape length to achieve full contact with both substrates. When used in window label or display applications, avoid contact with high-LSE plastics where adhesive performance may vary. Remove the liner and apply to one substrate before mating to the second surface to control positioning.
