The 3M 7000028867 is a high-temperature aluminum foil and glass cloth tape designed for demanding thermal and industrial applications. Known as 3M Tape 363, it combines an aluminum foil facing with a glass cloth backing to deliver structural integrity and heat resistance in a single tape system. At 7.3 mil total thickness, it provides a durable, conformable barrier suitable for insulation jacketing, duct sealing, and thermal wrap work. Each roll measures 2 inches wide by 36 yards long. Licensed HVAC technicians and industrial insulation contractors are the primary installers of this product in both commercial and residential mechanical systems.
This tape is used in high-temperature environments where standard foil tapes would fail or delaminate. Common applications include sealing and securing flexible and rigid duct insulation, wrapping pipe insulation, patching foil-faced fiberglass insulation, and securing thermal blankets on equipment. It is sold in rolls and packaged 24 rolls per case, making it practical for stocking on service vans or in shop inventory. Its silver aluminum face provides a clean, finished appearance on exposed insulation work.
Designed for use with foil-faced fiberglass duct insulation, rigid and flexible ductboard, pipe insulation jacketing, and thermal wrap applications in commercial and residential HVAC and mechanical systems.
This tape is installed by HVAC technicians and insulation contractors as part of duct sealing and insulation jacketing work. Surfaces should be clean, dry, and free of dust or oil before application to ensure full adhesion. Follow local mechanical codes, including SMACNA standards and applicable energy codes, for duct sealing requirements. Avoid stretching the tape during application, as this can reduce bond strength and cause edge lifting over time.
