The 3M 7000028480 is a Scotch-Brite EXL Unitized Wheel designed for smoothing, deburring, and surface finishing on metal alloys, plastics, and composites. Built with a layered, unitized construction and aluminum oxide (AO) abrasive, the wheel delivers consistent material removal across a range of densities and grades. A 1-inch arbor bore provides straightforward mounting to standard bench grinders and right-angle grinders. At 6 inches in diameter and approximately 2.2 pounds, this wheel is suited for stationary finishing setups in fabrication shops and production environments. It is installed and operated by machinists, fabricators, and industrial maintenance technicians.
This wheel fits applications involving edge finishing, deburring, and surface conditioning on ferrous and non-ferrous metals as well as many plastics and composites. It is well-suited for both manual finishing stations and robotic processing cells where consistent contact with complex part geometries is required. The conformable construction allows the abrasive to maintain contact on irregular or contoured surfaces, making it effective in both low-volume job shop and high-volume production environments.
Designed for use on bench grinders, pedestal grinders, and right-angle grinders equipped with a 1-inch arbor. Suitable for finishing metal alloys, many plastics, and composite materials in both manual and automated robotic processing applications.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or maintenance technician. Disconnect and lock out power to the grinder before mounting or removing the wheel. Verify that the machine spindle speed does not exceed the maximum rated RPM of the wheel before operation. Inspect the wheel for damage before each use and ensure the arbor nut is properly secured before resuming power.
