The 3M 7000028450 is a Scotch-Brite EXL Unitized Abrasive Wheel designed for smoothing, deburring, and surface finishing on metal alloys, plastics, and composites. The wheel measures 3 inches in diameter with a 1/4 inch arbor bore and uses an aluminum oxide (AO) abrasive mineral bonded into a layered, unitized construction. Its soft, conformable structure keeps the abrasive in continuous contact with irregular or complex part geometries. Weighing 0.08 pounds, this wheel is a compact, single-unit tool suited for use on bench grinders, die grinders, and similar rotary equipment operated by machinists, fabricators, and metalworking professionals.
This wheel is intended for edge finishing, deburring, and light surface blending on ferrous and non-ferrous metal alloys as well as many plastics and composites. It is well-suited for both manual and robotic finishing operations where conformability and consistent contact pressure matter. Applications include weld bead blending, edge radiusing, and pre-plate or pre-paint surface preparation. The unitized construction allows the wheel to operate in either clockwise or counterclockwise rotation, adding flexibility in multi-spindle or reversible-drive setups.
Designed for use on bench grinders, die grinders, and rotary finishing equipment accepting a 1/4 inch arbor. Suitable for finishing operations on metal alloys, plastics, and composites.
Verify that the spindle speed of the host tool does not exceed the rated maximum RPM marked on the wheel before mounting. Power down and disconnect the tool from its power source before changing or seating the wheel on the arbor. Inspect the wheel for damage prior to each use and do not use a wheel that shows cracking, crumbling, or uneven wear. Eye protection and appropriate PPE are required during operation per ANSI B7.1 and tool manufacturer guidelines.
