The 3M 7000028222 is an internally slotted rubber expander wheel designed for use with inline sanders in metal finishing applications. The rubber drum expands outward with centrifugal force during operation, maintaining constant tension on abrasive belts throughout the grinding cycle. The wheel measures 3.4 inches in diameter by 3 inches wide and features a 5/8 inch arbor hole. A 1/4 inch radius edge profile is built into the wheel to eliminate edge cuts on workpieces. Licensed HVAC, fabrication, and metal finishing technicians use this wheel when producing controlled, straight-line scratch patterns on stainless steel and other metal surfaces.
This expander wheel is intended for use with 3M Inline Sanders (PN28338 and PN28339) in professional metal surface finishing environments. It accepts 3 inch x 10-11/16 inch 3M Coated Abrasive belts and 3M Surface Conditioning belts. Mounting to 3M Inline Sanders requires the 3M Wheel Adaptor Kit (PN45038), sold separately. Typical applications include finishing stainless steel panels, pipes, and fabricated metal components where straight-line scratch patterns are specified. This wheel is sold as a single unit.
Compatible with 3M Inline Sanders PN28338 and PN28339 when used with the 3M Wheel Adaptor Kit PN45038. Accepts 3 inch x 10-11/16 inch 3M Coated Abrasive belts and 3M Surface Conditioning belts.
Installation and removal should be performed by qualified personnel with the sander fully powered down and disconnected from the air supply before mounting or dismounting the wheel. The 3M Wheel Adaptor Kit PN45038 is required to mount this wheel to compatible 3M Inline Sanders and must be secured before operation. Do not exceed the rated speed of the wheel or operate without a properly tensioned abrasive belt seated on the drum. Follow applicable shop safety standards and the tool manufacturer guidelines during installation and use.
