The 3M 7000028143 is a Trizact 466LA coated abrasive disc roll designed for fine surface finishing in automotive paint repair and coating correction applications. These discs use 3M microreplication technology, which structures the abrasive mineral in a precise, repeating pattern rather than a random coat. The result is a silicon carbide abrasive surface that cuts consistently from the first disc to the last. Each disc measures 1.375 inches in diameter with a scalloped edge profile. The roll format delivers 500 or more discs per roll, making this a high-volume solution for production shops and detailing operations where throughput and repeatability matter.
These discs are suited for light defect removal and paint correction on automotive panels, including spot repairs and blend work in body shop environments. The silicon carbide mineral is available in very fine micron grades, making them appropriate for the final stages of a multi-step finishing sequence. Color coding by grade helps technicians keep grades organized during multi-step processes and reduces the risk of applying the wrong grade to a finish-stage panel. Automotive body shops and coating repair facilities represent the primary install environment for this product.
Designed for use with hook-and-loop backup pads sized to accept 1.375 inch scalloped film discs, commonly used in automotive paint correction and coating repair applications.
These discs are installed by attaching to a compatible hook-and-loop backup pad on a rotary or orbital tool. Verify that the backup pad diameter and interface type match the disc before use. Work in a clean environment to avoid embedding contamination in the finish surface. Follow the full multi-grade sequence as recommended for the specific paint system being repaired to achieve consistent results.
