The 3M 7000021415 is an insulation displacement connector (IDC) designed to join two wires in tap, in-line, pigtail, or double run configurations without stripping insulation. Built for low-voltage automotive and similar applications, it accommodates a tap wire range of 22 to 18 AWG and a run wire range of 18 to 14 AWG. The connector electrically joins the wires and insulates the connection in a single operation. Maximum insulation outside diameter is 0.110 inches on the tap side and 0.145 inches on the run side. Operating temperature is rated to 194 degrees F. Licensed electricians and automotive technicians working on low-voltage wiring harnesses are the primary installers of this connector.
This connector is suited for low-voltage wiring tasks in automotive, fleet, and light-duty electrical applications where a fast, reliable tap or double run splice is required. The red housing provides a color-coded reference for wire gauge range. Sold in bags of 500, this connector is a practical choice for shop technicians and field installers who handle repetitive splicing work on 12-volt or similarly low-voltage systems.
Designed for low-voltage automotive and similar wiring applications using 22 to 14 AWG conductors. The suggested application tool for this connector is the E-9BM Crimping Tool.
Installation is performed by automotive technicians or electricians working on low-voltage wiring systems. Power down or disconnect the battery or circuit before making any splice connection. Use the E-9BM Crimping Tool or an equivalent IDC crimping tool rated for this connector series to ensure a proper insulation displacement and mechanical lock. Do not use pliers or non-rated tools, as an incomplete crimp will result in a high-resistance or open connection.
