The 3M 7000006380 is an intumescent firestop wrap strip designed for through-penetration firestop assemblies in commercial and residential construction. Sold as a 2-inch-wide by 40-foot roll, it provides a flexible, field-cuttable solution for sealing combustible and non-combustible pipe, conduit, and cable penetrations in fire-rated wall and floor assemblies. When exposed to heat, the intumescent material expands to seal the annular space around a penetrant, limiting the spread of fire, smoke, and toxic combustion gases through the opening. Licensed contractors and firestop installers are the primary end users.
This wrap strip is suited for in-hole firestop installations where the material is wrapped directly around the penetrant before or during installation. It is also used alongside 3M Fire Barrier RC-1 Restricting Collars on plastic pipe penetrations. When installed in-hole with a compatible 3M Fire Barrier Sealant or Moldable Putty, the wrap additionally provides a cold smoke seal, helping prevent the migration of toxic gases and combustion by-products before heat activates the intumescent reaction. It is compatible with most metallic and non-metallic insulated penetrants.
Compatible with most metallic and non-metallic insulated penetrants. Designed for use in-hole or in conjunction with 3M Fire Barrier RC-1 Restricting Collars. May be combined with 3M Fire Barrier Sealant or Moldable Putty for cold smoke sealing in fire-rated wall and floor assemblies.
Installation should be performed by qualified firestop contractors or licensed trades familiar with UL-listed or tested assembly requirements. Power down or de-energize electrical penetrations before beginning work in the penetration opening. Follow the specific tested system documentation for wrap thickness, overlap, and anchorage requirements, as deviating from listed assembly details may void the fire rating. Consult applicable building codes, including IBC firestop provisions, for inspection and documentation requirements.
