The 3M 7000006371 is a one-part, intumescent fire barrier wrap strip designed to firestop penetrations in fire-rated wall, floor, and floor/ceiling assemblies. Measuring 2 inches by 24 inches, each strip features a foil facing on one side and delivers up to 4 hours of fire protection when installed in tested and listed systems. The intumescent core expands under heat to seal the penetration opening. When combined with an approved fire barrier sealant or moldable putty, the wrap also provides a cold smoke seal that helps prevent the spread of toxic gases and combustion by-products before heat activates the intumescent material. Licensed contractors and fire-stopping specialists install this product per tested and listed system designs.
This wrap strip is suited for commercial and residential construction applications where fire-rated assemblies require penetration protection. It supports two installation methods: in-hole firestop installation and use in conjunction with 3M Fire Barrier RC-1 Restricting Collars. In-hole installations with a compatible fire barrier sealant or moldable putty add a cold smoke seal, making the assembly suitable for applications where both fire and smoke compartmentalization are required by code.
Designed for use in tested and listed fire-rated wall, floor, and floor/ceiling assemblies. Compatible with 3M Fire Barrier RC-1 Restricting Collars and 3M Fire Barrier Sealants and Moldable Putty products when cold smoke sealing is required.
Installation must be performed by qualified contractors following tested and listed system designs and applicable building codes, including IBC fire-stop requirements. Verify the specific listed system design before installation, as coverage and configuration requirements vary by penetrant type and assembly rating. No cutting or modification of the strip should be made outside of the listed system parameters. Follow all project-specific firestop inspection and documentation requirements.
