The 3M 7000001971 Dual Lock Reclosable Fastener SJ3541 is a heavy-duty, peel-and-stick reclosable fastening tape designed for secure, repositionable mechanical attachment in industrial and commercial applications. Built on a black polypropylene backing with a rubber-based pressure-sensitive adhesive, this fastener delivers 400 stems per square inch and an engaged thickness of 0.23 inches. The system closes by pressing two mating Dual Lock surfaces together and releases with a firm pull, rated for up to 1,000 open-and-close cycles. HVAC service techs, electricians, and equipment installers use it to mount panels, wire harnesses, access covers, and light-duty components without tools or fasteners.
This fastener tape is engineered for indoor use and performs reliably in low-temperature environments up to 120 degrees F. It bonds well to a broad range of substrates including acrylic, polycarbonate, ABS, powder-coated painted surfaces, and low surface energy materials such as polypropylene and polyethylene. Common applications include securing electrical enclosure covers, routing wire bundles, mounting nameplates or labels, and attaching interior panels in HVAC air handlers or ductwork assemblies. Each roll measures 2 inches wide by 50 yards, providing ample material for large jobs or multiple installations.
Compatible with acrylic, polycarbonate, ABS, powder-coated painted surfaces, polypropylene, and polyethylene substrates. Intended for indoor use only. Designed for use as a tool-free reclosable fastening solution in HVAC, electrical, and general industrial panel and component mounting applications.
Surface preparation is critical — clean and dry the bonding surface before applying the adhesive backing to ensure full contact. Apply firm pressure across the entire tape length to activate the adhesive bond. Avoid installation in outdoor environments or areas exposed to moisture, UV, or temperatures exceeding 120 degrees F. This product is typically installed by HVAC technicians, electricians, or industrial maintenance personnel and requires no special tools beyond a clean, dry work surface and a roller or firm hand pressure.
