The 3M 7000001328 is an isopropyl alcohol-based silane glass treatment formulated to improve adhesion of 3M VHB Tape to glass surfaces. Known commercially as AP115, this surface primer chemically conditions glass by depositing a silane layer that bonds to the glass substrate and provides a compatible surface for VHB acrylic foam tape adhesion. It is designed for use by glaziers, construction crews, and industrial assembly technicians who require reliable, long-term tape bonds on architectural or automotive glass panels. The gallon format suits production-volume applications where repeated surface prep is needed before tape application.
AP115 is used wherever 3M VHB Tape must adhere to glass in demanding environments, including curtain wall glazing, structural bonding assemblies, and sign or display fabrication. It is suitable for both interior and exterior applications where a high-strength, durable adhesive bond to glass is required. The IPA carrier evaporates cleanly, leaving the silane treatment layer ready for tape application without residue that could interfere with adhesion.
Designed for use in conjunction with 3M VHB Tape on glass surfaces requiring adhesion promotion prior to tape bonding.
Application should be performed in a well-ventilated area due to isopropyl alcohol content. Apply a thin, even wipe of the treatment to the clean glass surface and allow the solvent to fully evaporate before applying VHB Tape. Glass must be clean and free of oils, dust, and contaminants prior to treatment. Follow all applicable safety data sheet guidelines for handling and storage of solvent-based surface treatments.
