The 3M 7000001324 is an isopropyl alcohol (IPA) based adhesion promoter formulated to improve bond performance when used with 3M VHB Tape on demanding substrates. Sold in a one-gallon container weighing 7.73 pounds, this promoter conditions surfaces at the molecular level, improving the mechanical and chemical contact between the tape adhesive and the substrate. It is applied prior to tape installation on both painted and bare metal surfaces. Trade professionals and finishing technicians use this product where a reliable, long-term bond is required and surface conditions may otherwise limit adhesive performance.
Adhesion Promoter 111 is suited for applications where 3M VHB Tape is being bonded to painted metal panels, bare metal fabrications, or similar industrial and commercial surfaces. Common install scenarios include panel bonding in HVAC cabinet assembly, electrical enclosure fabrication, signage mounting, and general metal assembly work where mechanical fasteners are supplemented or replaced by structural tape. The product is appropriate for both shop and field use where substrate preparation is part of the installation workflow.
Designed for use in conjunction with 3M VHB Tape on many painted and bare metal substrates. Confirm substrate compatibility before production use, as surface coatings and treatments vary.
Applied by qualified technicians as a surface prep step immediately before VHB Tape installation. Apply to a clean, dry substrate using a lint-free applicator and allow to flash off per manufacturer guidance before applying tape. Ensure adequate ventilation when working with IPA-based products in enclosed spaces. Follow applicable workplace safety regulations for flammable solvents.
