The 3M 7000001210 is a UHMW polyethylene film tape designed for noise reduction, vibration dampening, and abrasion protection in industrial and trade applications. It features a translucent 10.0 mil UHMW polyethylene backing bonded with a rubber-based adhesive, supplied on a paper liner. At 11.7 mil total thickness, this is the thickest version in the 3M 5423 series, offering greater abrasion resistance than the 5421. The low coefficient of friction surface helps reduce contact wear and mechanical noise where surfaces slide, rub, or bear repeated load. It is commonly applied by maintenance technicians, HVAC installers, and mechanical contractors.
This tape is well suited for lining chutes, slides, wear strips, guides, and bearing surfaces where abrasion and friction are ongoing concerns. It also serves as a noise and vibration buffer between metal components, ductwork, and structural surfaces. Each roll measures 24 inches wide by 18 yards long, providing broad coverage for large-surface applications in both commercial and industrial settings. The paper liner allows controlled, clean application during installation.
Designed as a general-purpose UHMW film tape suitable for metal, plastic, and composite surfaces in industrial, HVAC, and mechanical trade applications where abrasion resistance and low friction are required.
Surface preparation is critical — clean and dry the substrate thoroughly before application to ensure full adhesive contact. Cut tape to length before removing the paper liner, and apply with firm, even pressure across the entire surface. This tape is typically applied by maintenance technicians or mechanical installers and requires no special tools beyond a utility knife and a roller or squeegee. Avoid applying to surfaces with residual oils, moisture, or loose coatings.
