The 3M 7000001110 is a low static polyimide film tape designed for masking printed circuit boards during wave solder and solder dip operations. The tape features a translucent polyimide film backing coated with a silicone adhesive and is engineered with extremely low electrostatic discharge (ESD) properties to protect sensitive electronic components. At 24 inches wide and 36 yards long, this roll covers large board runs without frequent roll changes. Licensed electronics assemblers and PCB production technicians are the primary installers of this product in production and rework environments.
This tape is applied in electronics manufacturing and repair settings where masking during soldering is required. The low static formulation makes it suitable for use near ESD-sensitive components and assemblies. It is used in wave solder lines, solder dip stations, and selective soldering applications where temporary masking protection and clean removal after processing are necessary.
Designed for use as a masking tape in wave solder, solder dip, and selective soldering processes on printed circuit boards where low electrostatic discharge and high-temperature resistance are required.
Application is performed by electronics assembly technicians following IPC workmanship standards. Ensure the PCB surface is clean and dry before applying tape to achieve proper adhesion and clean removal. Avoid stretching the tape during application, as distortion can compromise mask edge integrity. Remove tape promptly after the soldering process has cooled to prevent adhesive residue transfer.
