The 3M 7000000946 is a tan, heavy-bodied autobody seam sealant packaged in a 1/10 gallon cartridge. It is designed for sealing seams, joints, and gaps in automotive body panels and related structures. The formula features high solids content and low shrinkage, which helps maintain a consistent bead profile after cure. It skins quickly and cures fast, making it well suited for production environments and body shop work where throughput matters. Once cured, the material remains flexible, resisting cracking from vibration and thermal cycling. The sealant is paintable in approximately 45 minutes, allowing work to continue without extended wait times.
This sealant is applied in automotive body repair and refinishing applications where heavy-bodied seam sealing is required. It is appropriate for use on door hem flanges, floor pan seams, firewall seams, and similar structural joints on passenger vehicles and light trucks. Body shop technicians and automotive restoration professionals typically apply it using a standard caulk gun or pneumatic cartridge applicator. It is suitable wherever a durable, flexible, paintable seam seal is needed and time between operations is limited.
Designed as an OEM-style autobody seam sealant suitable for use on automotive body panel seams, hem flanges, and structural joints where a heavy-bodied flexible sealant is specified.
Apply using a standard caulk gun or pneumatic cartridge dispensing tool. Surfaces should be clean, dry, and free of oil, wax, and loose debris before application. Allow the sealant to fully skin before handling or masking, and allow the recommended cure time before applying topcoat. Follow shop safety practices including adequate ventilation when working with sealant products in enclosed spaces.
