The 3M 7000000939 is a thread-reinforced synthetic rubber ribbon sealant in tape form, sold under the Weatherban PF 5422 product line. The thread reinforcement provides dimensional stability and supports die-cutting operations. At 1/8 inch thick, it delivers a watertight, gasket-like seal against glass, metal, and most non-porous surfaces. The tape is repositionable during installation and leaves virtually no cleanup residue. Glaziers, sheet metal workers, and building envelope contractors use this sealant where a reliable weather-resistant bond is needed in a tape format that can be handled and positioned before final compression.
This ribbon sealant is used in both residential and commercial construction and maintenance applications. Typical uses include bedding glass in window and door frames, sealing metal overlap seams, closing joints in building panels, and sealing rain gutters. It can also be installed in conjunction with mechanical fasteners where a combined fastener-and-seal approach is required. The tape format makes it well suited to production environments where die-cut gaskets or continuous ribbon application are part of the workflow.
Designed for use on glass, metal, and most non-porous substrate surfaces in window glazing, door frame sealing, building panel seam sealing, and rain gutter applications where a compressible ribbon sealant is required.
Apply to clean, dry, and dust-free surfaces for best adhesion. Position the ribbon sealant before final mechanical compression or fastener tightening, as the tape is repositionable prior to final set. When used with mechanical fasteners, ensure the fastener pattern is consistent with the sealant width to maintain continuous contact. Follow applicable building code requirements for weather barrier and glazing installations in your jurisdiction.
