The 3M 7000000698 is a Scotch-Brite EXL unitized abrasive wheel designed for smoothing, deburring, and finishing metal alloys, plastics, and composites. The unitized construction integrates abrasive mineral throughout the wheel body, delivering consistent cut and finish as the wheel wears down. At 3 inches in diameter with a 1/4-inch arbor, this wheel mounts directly to die grinders and bench grinders for precise edge work. Aluminum oxide (AO) abrasive provides reliable cut on ferrous and non-ferrous metals. The soft, conformable consistency keeps the abrasive in contact with irregular or complex part geometries, minimizing heat buildup and reducing smearing on finished surfaces.
This wheel is suited for fabrication shops, maintenance and repair operations, and production finishing lines where controlled deburring and surface preparation are required. It handles edges, contours, and flat surfaces on steel, aluminum, stainless, and many engineering plastics. The layered unitized structure supports both clockwise and counterclockwise rotation, giving installers flexibility in machine setup. Typical users include machinists, metalworkers, toolroom technicians, and maintenance professionals working on precision parts or assemblies that require clean, burr-free edges before finishing or inspection.
Designed for use with die grinders and bench grinders accepting a 1/4-inch arbor. Suitable for deburring and finishing applications on steel, aluminum, stainless steel, and many plastics and composites.
Installation and wheel changes should be performed by a qualified operator with the grinder fully powered off and disconnected from the power source. Verify that the spindle speed of the grinder does not exceed the maximum rated RPM of the wheel before mounting. Secure the arbor nut to manufacturer-recommended snugness without overtightening, which can distort the wheel core. Always inspect the wheel for damage before use and wear appropriate eye and face protection during operation.
