The 3M 7000000573 is a firm-density disc backing pad designed to support abrasive discs in grinding, blending, and finishing operations. With a 3-inch diameter and a maximum rated speed of 6000 RPM, this pad provides a rigid, stable base for consistent surface contact. It uses Roloc quick-change compatibility, allowing discs to be swapped quickly without tools. The non-flexible construction keeps the abrasive flat against the workpiece, making it well suited for metal fabrication, weld blending, and surface prep tasks performed by machinists, fabricators, and maintenance trades.
This backing pad is used in angle grinder and die grinder applications where a firm, controlled cut is needed. The Roloc interface is common in industrial and trade settings for attaching 3M and compatible quick-change abrasive discs. Typical applications include deburring, light stock removal, and surface conditioning on metal, weld seams, and fabricated components. It is a standard shop consumable used in manufacturing, HVAC fabrication, and general mechanical service environments.
Designed for use with Roloc quick-change abrasive discs in 3-inch diameter. Compatible with die grinders and angle grinders equipped with a Roloc-style spindle attachment up to 6000 RPM.
Installation and disc changes are performed by hand using the Roloc twist-lock mechanism — no tools required. Ensure the grinder is fully powered down and unplugged before attaching or removing the backing pad or disc. Do not exceed the 6000 RPM rated speed of this pad. Inspect the pad for wear, cracking, or deformation before each use and replace if any damage is present.
