The 3M 7000000552 is a coated abrasive quick-change disc in the 3M 777F series, designed for rapid attachment and removal during grinding, blending, and finishing operations. It uses ceramic alumina as the abrasive material, which self-sharpens under pressure to maintain consistent cut rates through the life of the disc. At 2 inches in diameter and rated to 25,000 RPM, it is suited for use with Type R (Roloc TR) quick-change tools in confined or detail work areas. The polyester cloth backing provides dimensional stability and resistance to tearing under aggressive use. Fine 100 grit makes it appropriate for finish grinding and light material removal.
This disc is used in metal fabrication, weld blending, deburring, and surface preparation tasks on ferrous and non-ferrous substrates. The 2-inch diameter and Type R attachment system make it a common choice for work in tight clearances where larger discs cannot reach. It is typically deployed by metal fabricators, maintenance technicians, pipefitters, and welders working on tubing, sheet metal, and structural components. The quick-change mount allows disc swaps without tools, reducing downtime between grits or disc types during multi-step finishing sequences.
Designed for use with Type R (Roloc TR) quick-change disc holders and compatible pneumatic or electric angle grinders and die grinders accepting a 2-inch quick-change disc.
Installation and removal require a compatible Roloc TR mandrel or disc pad; no additional tools are needed for the quick-change mechanism. Verify that the tool spindle speed does not exceed the 25,000 RPM disc rating before mounting. Ensure the disc is fully seated and locked onto the mandrel before powering the tool. Always use appropriate eye protection, face shields, and gloves per ANSI B11 and applicable workplace safety standards when operating abrasive discs.
