The 3M 7000000275 is a precision lapping film sheet used for ultra-fine surface finishing and polishing applications. It features aluminum oxide mineral bonded to a 3 mil polyester film base using a durable resin system. The pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) backing allows the sheet to mount securely to flat platens or backing plates without additional fixturing. At 3.0 micron, this grade delivers fine cutting action suited for applications that require tight surface finish tolerances. Each sheet measures 8.5 inches x 11 inches. Licensed trades and precision technicians use this product where consistent, repeatable surface finishing is critical.
This lapping film is commonly used in fiber optic connector finishing and roll superfinishing operations. The 3.0 micron grade sits mid-range within the 266X series, which is available in seven grades spanning 0.05 to 60.0 micron. It is appropriate for both production environments and bench-level service work where controlled material removal and surface refinement are required. Technicians working in telecommunications infrastructure, precision manufacturing, and optical assembly will find this grade suitable for intermediate to fine finishing stages.
Designed for use in fiber optic finishing and roll superfinishing applications. Compatible with standard flat-lap platens and backing plates that accept PSA-backed abrasive sheets in the 8.5 inches x 11 inches format.
Peel the release liner from the PSA backing and apply the sheet firmly to a clean, flat platen or backing plate, pressing out any air bubbles from the center outward. Ensure the mounting surface is free of debris or oils that could compromise adhesion. Replace the film when cutting performance degrades or when surface finish measurements fall outside specification. Follow all applicable workplace safety guidelines when handling abrasive films and operating finishing equipment.
