The 3M 6900 is a large full facepiece reusable respirator designed to protect the respiratory system, eyes, and facial skin from hazardous airborne particles, gases, and chemical vapors. Part of the 3M 6000 Series, this respirator features a Cool Flow exhalation valve that reduces heat and moisture buildup inside the facepiece, improving wearer comfort during extended use. The silicone facepiece conforms to a wide range of facial shapes to support a consistent seal. It is intended for use by industrial workers, painters, spray finishers, and other trade professionals operating in environments with respiratory hazard exposure.
This respirator is suited for applications in industrial, construction, and maintenance settings where simultaneous protection of the airways, eyes, and skin is required. The full facepiece design makes it appropriate for tasks involving chemical handling, surface preparation, spray application, or work in confined spaces with airborne contaminants. Compatible cartridges and filters are selected based on the specific hazard present at the job site, making this facepiece a versatile platform across multiple exposure scenarios.
Designed as an OEM-style reusable full facepiece respirator compatible with 3M 6000 Series cartridges and filter accessories selected to match the specific airborne hazard classification of the application.
Donning and fitting should be performed by a trained worker following an established respiratory protection program as required by OSHA 29 CFR 1910.134, including quantitative or qualitative fit testing before first use. Inspect the facepiece, lens, and valve for damage or contamination before each use, and replace cartridges and filters according to the service life schedule defined by the employer's program. Clean and store the facepiece in a sealed container away from chemical exposure and direct sunlight when not in use.
