The 3M 69-1/2INX66FT is a premium-grade glass cloth electrical tape designed for high-temperature insulation and mechanical protection in electrical systems. It uses a thermosetting silicone adhesive over a glass cloth backing, delivering a 600-volt rating, 7 mil thickness, and a temperature rating of 200 degrees C (392 degrees F). The tape is white in finish and carries UL and CSA approvals under UL 510. Licensed electricians and motor winding specialists are the primary installers, though industrial maintenance technicians also work with this product regularly.
This tape is suited for coil cover applications, anchor wrapping, banding, core and layer insulation, and crossover insulation in motors, transformers, and other high-ambient-temperature electrical assemblies. Its silicone adhesive increases bond strength as operating temperatures rise, making it appropriate for environments where standard vinyl or rubber tapes would soften or fail. It is used in both commercial and industrial settings wherever glass cloth insulation and heat resistance are required.
Designed as a premium-grade insulating tape for use in coil cover, anchor, banding, core, layer, and crossover insulation applications in high-temperature electrical assemblies.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician or qualified motor winding technician. De-energize and lock out the equipment before applying or removing tape from any electrical assembly. Apply firm, even pressure during wrap to activate full adhesive contact, noting that bond strength increases further once the assembly reaches operating temperature. Follow applicable NEC guidelines and manufacturer instructions for insulation class and layer requirements.
