The 3M 3590038 is a self-retracting lifeline (SRL) designed for fall protection in elevated work environments. The unit extends and retracts with the worker during normal movement. When a fall occurs, a speed-sensing brake system activates to arrest the fall and reduce forces on the user to safe levels. The lifeline is constructed with galvanized steel cable and terminates in a steel swivel snap hook. The housing measures approximately 20 inches long, 12.1 inches wide, and 10.9 inches tall, with a total weight of 20.6 pounds. Constant tension on the lifeline minimizes dragging, snagging, tripping, and slack-related hazards.
This SRL is suited for general-purpose fall protection on construction sites, industrial facilities, rooftops, and similar elevated work areas. The swiveling anchorage connector loop allows the unit to mount to an overhead anchor point. The 50-foot cable length accommodates a range of vertical working distances, and the stackable housing design allows units to be stored efficiently on the job site. An integrated carrying handle simplifies transport to and from the work area.
Designed as an OEM-style self-retracting lifeline for use with compatible full-body harness systems in general-industry and construction fall protection applications where overhead anchorage is available.
Installation and use should be performed by a competent person as defined under OSHA 29 CFR 1926.32 and applicable fall protection regulations. Before connecting the SRL, verify the anchorage point meets minimum strength requirements per applicable codes. Inspect the lifeline, housing, and snap hook for damage before each use. Never modify the unit or use it to support loads beyond its rated capacity.
