The 3M 3590034 is a self-retracting lifeline (SRL) designed for fall protection in industrial, construction, and general work-at-height applications. The unit extends and retracts automatically as the worker moves, and a speed-sensing brake system activates immediately upon a fall event, arresting the drop and reducing fall forces to safe levels. The housing is compact and lightweight, making it practical for daily transport to job sites via the integrated carrying handle. Tension is maintained on the lifeline at all times, which reduces dragging, snagging, and trip hazards during normal work movement. The unit weighs 14 pounds and is sold individually.
This SRL is suited for overhead anchorage point installations on construction sites, industrial facilities, and elevated work platforms. The swiveling anchorage connector loop allows the unit to track worker movement without binding. The self-locking snap hook on the lifeline end connects directly to a compatible full-body harness dorsal ring. The 20-foot lifeline length covers a range of working distances from the anchor point, making it applicable to scaffolding, roofing, steel erection, and similar elevated tasks.
Designed for use with compatible full-body harnesses as part of a complete personal fall arrest system meeting applicable OSHA and ANSI Z359 requirements. Consult the product instruction manual to confirm harness connector and anchorage compatibility before use.
Installation and inspection must be performed by a qualified person familiar with fall protection systems and applicable OSHA 29 CFR 1926 Subpart M or 29 CFR 1910 Subpart D requirements. The anchorage point must be capable of supporting the load requirements specified by the applicable safety standard before the SRL is connected. Inspect the lifeline, housing, connectors, and energy absorber before each use and remove the unit from service if any damage or indicator activation is observed. Do not modify, field-repair, or substitute components not approved by the manufacturer.
